About Christy Griffin

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have been a mental health therapist and facilitator in the Denver area for 20+ years. I have worked with individuals, couples, families and groups in inpatient, intensive outpatient and outpatient settings. In 2004 I co-founded the Exempla West Pines Behavioral Health Intensive Outpatient Program based in DBT.

I specialize and have been intensively trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. This therapeutic approach is proven to be effective in creating positive and permanent cognitive and behavioral changes. It increases overall functioning while supporting clients emotionally as they build rich lives full of meaning and competency.

I have extensive experience with all psychiatric issues including life transitions, emotion and mood management, personality disorders, stress management, grief and loss, trauma issues and growth and wellness focused therapies.

In a recent testimonial, a client of Christy's wrote:

"Christy gives 100+ % to all of us, and my experience in her group was nothing short of phenomenal. Her deep knowledge of DBT and her ability to teach it, both by example and by imparting the information to me has changed my life, as I know it has many others. I have never met another therapist with such insight, perception and intuition. She knows exactly what to say and how to say it - usually gently, but with the exact amount of emphasis necessary to address an issue and to reach a person so that they can gain insight and see how applying the DBT skills will work to change their lives."
